@Kuba... zatím jen na fb:
This is the call for entries for the PENTAXIANS MONOCHROME BOOK.
I'm carrying the idea for this book with me for a long time and for me it is about the time to bring it to paper.
So first of all the concept.
The book will only contain series of minimum 4 to 8 images. The total amount of pages will be around 200 pages in a larger format than the known yearbooks. There will be no "all in" download version but a download version of the printed version will be available for free download. Every series will be featured on 2 to 4 spreads. The Series is not bound to a year or a specific Pentax camera model or type. Images shot on film are very welcome.
So these limitations will for sure lead to some frustration, but I think a selection is important to keep the quality of this book on a high level. So make a good decision what to contribute and what not. The selection will be done by me, an art director working in my agency and two photographers I'm friend with and who are not involved as contributors. The book will also be more expensive than the yearbooks, due to the larger format and the expected lower amount of printed books (maybe I'm wrong with the amount)
The book will be print just black and white on a slightly warmer paper - which means no color - also no sepia tones or similar will be shown, so take this in account.
About the contributed images - Please follow these suggestions. Don't oversharpen the images, avoid dark images with very low contrast. Avoid overly done clarity and hdr settings - Images might look good on screen with that applied but are not good to print. We will do some image optimization before print and deliver a proof pdf for a check to all contributors.
How to contribute: During the last weeks I programmed a custom contribution tool, to manage the contributions. You first have to register on this website
https://dev.pentaxians-yearbook.com/
After login you see a list of planned publications. The Monochrome Book has a button on the right where you can start the contribution process. Click it once and after that you can edit your contribution. On the following screen you enter all relevant informations about the contribution. Upload images, edit the text etc. This is pretty much self explaining. You can always come back add and delete stuff and also edit the meta information. Dont forget to press the save button. You can also rate / prioritize your images. This gives us a hint what are the most important images for you, just in case not all are chosen for the book. Please be patient while uploading the images. The system is running on a small server in my agency and the internet connection is not as fast as you might be used to. When the upload was successful, the image shows up under the text part of the contribution.
If you face problems or have suggestions, please write an email to
padmin@dev.pentaxians-yearbook.com
Please also complete your personal profile - You find that in the top right menue of the page. This is important for the consent that we are allowed to use your artwork for the publication.
There is currently no end date for the contribution fixed. So take your time to make a great selection.
